I named this piece “Nevada, Land of Spirit” in order to honor the sacred presence of the Nevada desert; a place where time always feels suspended to me. And where an ancestral presence is embroidered into the soil. It was interesting to work on because that’s not how it started out. I began by wanting to create an abstract piece that incorporated layers and textures using desert colors, but it evolved into something less abstract and more representational … more spiritual.
This mixed media piece is on a 30″ x 24″ canvas.
